“Your Deeds Don’t Define You” | “Your Deeds Don’t Define You”

EXHIBITION: 11 March – 2 April
OPENING EVENT: Thursday 10 March, 6PM – 8PM
For our Lent show last year, we curated an exhibition which explored the themes of redemption, forgiveness and reconciliation synonymous with Easter. We invited submissions, responding to or questioning the title “Your deeds don’t define you,” and the show featured work by people from different backgrounds exploring this theme.
For this project we were excited to be partnering with Junction42, who ran art workshops with prisoners exploring the same idea while developing their confidence and self-esteem. These sessions enabled them to creatively reflect on the prominent themes in the Easter story to consider their own life story and where they want to see reconciliation and forgiveness in the future. Resultant works were exhibited alongside submissions from artists as part of the show, encouraging a challenging mix of thought provoking perspectives.
About Junction42:
Junction42 exists to see the lives of offenders and their communities visibly transformed by the hope of the gospel. We offer support and hope to those both in custody and in the community. In HMP/YOI Low Newton, one aspect of Junction42’s work is a creative arts hub where women can take part in various creative arts projects.
